Although a bike may appear show room worthy on the outside, when left untouched for long periods of time, the deterioration begins underneath the fairings.
A major overhaul, put simply, is doing whatever is required to bring the bike back to a point where it is in a healthy and reliable condition. This process is very bike specific, and there is no real way of determining exactly what will be required without pulling the bike apart and seeing what you’re up against.
